• The Arrow Will Return After Summer Break. . .maybe
Addison Rice
Addison Rice is a freshman at Clairemont High School and is part of the Academy of Health and Medical Sciences.

“The Health and Medical Academy gave off a very welcoming vibe to me and it was a no-brainer to choose it,” she said.

She has an older brother who is a junior at Clairemont. They have a great relationship, but like every pair of siblings, they fight, though they always make up quickly.

“Family is forever and one little fight should never change that, besides we always fight about stupid little things,” she said with a laugh.

While her brother plays basketball, Addison played tennis for Clairemont in the fall and badminton in the spring. She has enjoyed tennis since she was in 6th grade and though Addison had never played badminton before she was excited to try it for the first time.

“Badminton is a lot of fun, plus my background in tennis helped me get the hang of it.”

She got introduced to tennis by her father and has loved it ever since. However, she does not plan to take it farther than high school.

Tennis is a hobby and she wants to focus on academics in college. It will always be something she enjoys to do and she hopes that she can carry it on as a pastime.

Addison loves to do art outside of school as well. She mostly sketches people but also enjoys painting landscapes.

“With art, you get to express yourself in many ways and I really love that. It is also very relaxing, you sort of just forget about everything else,” she said.

She wishes to be a zoologist when she is older as she has always loved animals. She has known that she wanted to work with wild creatures since she was in 6th grade.

She said, “I feel like animals are underrepresented in the world, but they are some of the ones suffering the most because of the damage humans are doing.”

Addison has always loved writing, so journalism was a great choice for an elective. She is not too fond of going out and interviewing people though.

“I think journalism will be a good class for me. I love to write and it will help me get out of my comfort zone. It has a lot to offer and I am going to use that to my advantage.”
