Beauty and the Beast provides a new take on a beloved and a cherished classic, and is worth a watch. Long-time Disney fans are thrilled to see that Disney is making live action movies based on animated originals and the live-action Beauty and the Beast was one of the most anticipated films of 2017.

When I walked into the movie theater on opening night, almost every seat was filled. I had high hopes for the film, and was not disappointed. Thanks to talented and enjoyable songs, the story was re-told impeccably.

This movie accommodates everyone’s needs. Whether you are a little kid seeing it for the first time on the big screen, or an adult reliving childhood memories, it is special and entertaining. It has action-packed scenes that include Gaston and the Beast fighting for the heart of Belle. The film also has unlikely romances between lovers who are still trying to find themselves. It occasionally has comedy with witty lines and playful banter. When combined with the magic and fantasy of the original story, these elements work together to create a movie that has a “tale as old as time.”

The characters are portrayed perfectly by the cast. Emma Watson not only looked beautiful as Belle, but also provided a great performance. She brought the character to life by expressing Belle’s intelligence through her inventions and her courageousness when she saves her father and faces the Beast. Dan Stevens plays the Beast with integrity and displays the right amounts of obstinacy and compassion. Throughout the entire film, he perfectly portrays a shut-in who is still trying to determine who he really is. The magical and life-like castle objects are portrayed excellently as well. The actors infuse the characters with bubbly and warm spirits, which are needed to make the film complete.

In the film, one of most iconic scenes was when Belle and the Beast dance. The dress Belle wore in the original animated movie was simplistic yet beautiful. However, the new dress was different than the previous dress, which was upsetting because it was one of Belle’s most iconic looks. Even though I was disappointed by the dress, the movie captured the movement of the dress beautifully. Belle and the Beast danced well together and had great chemistry. Combined with the lighting and the setting of a sparking ballroom, the scene left me in awe. With the elegance of the setting and immaculate acting from the actors, the iconic scene lived up to its predecessor’s precedent.

Beauty and the Beast is a classic, and the new adaptation did not disappoint. It was magical, and will appeal to a variety of people. The movie was represented well by the cast and crew. It had small flaws, but they didn’t affect the film as a whole. This movie lives up to the animated classic, and I recommend watching it.
