In January 2017, about 8.1 million people tuned in to watch season 4 of BBC’s Sherlock. Sherlock is the live action remake of the classic series by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and takes place in modern day London. The show revolves around Sherlock Holmes and the mysteries he solves with Dr. John Watson. Sherlock is portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch, and Dr. Watson is acted by Martin Freeman. The rest of the cast includes Andrew Scott, Amanda Abbington, Mark Gatiss, Una Stubbs, and Rupert Graves. The creators are Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat.

Season four focuses on Moriarty, Sherlock’s dead ‘nemesis,’ and the possibility that he may be back to execute an ill-willed scheme. Another area the show focuses on is Dr. Watson’s wife, Mary, and her background.

The show is great, although some people aren’t very happy with how long it takes for new seasons to come out. On average it takes about two years for a new season to be released. Each season has three episodes, and so far there are four seasons, however, the format is different. Each episode is an hour and a half long, which helps make up for the long wait.

Overall, Sherlock is a fascinating show and has a great storyline. Benedict Cumberbatch has portrayed the classic character of Sherlock Holmes incredibly well and has done it justice. Sherlock first appears as antisocial and cold hearted; however, later on throughout the show we notice he slowly starts warming up to John and becomes his best friend. Even though Sherlock prefers not to admit he admires John, there are moments when we see Sherlock dive head first into dangerous situations to save or protect John.

The show is not known for its comedy but it is pretty funny at times. Sherlock has great ratings with 83% on Rotten Tomatoes, and 9.2/10 on IMDb. The show can be found on Netflix under Crime and Mysteries, iTunes, Amazon, and Vudu for $4.99. I highly recommend you watch the BBC show.
